A brief history of the series
The series was founded by a coalition of clubs with a common aim - to provide regular, cheap and hassle free racing for riders regardless of ability or age. In the first year the three clubs involved promoted 2 events each. It was immediately apparent, however, that the risk of an event being cancelled was too great for any single club to bear.
In response to this the series was launched allowing the risk of a bad night to be shared over the entire series. This saw the series grow from 6 to 10 and finally 15 events.
In 2007 the series organizer Rob Lyne, handed the series over to the current organizer-Rob Adams. However, the series continues to be coordinatedand supported by the original founders - Rob Lyne, Dave Rutty Jim Grant and Andy Cook. In 2008 this core of volunteersis set to expand as the helpers on each night will be contacted directly whereas in previous years each contributing club was expected to round up volunteers for the night.
The series continues to go from strength to strength providing the ideal environmentfor new riders to get to grips with the cut and thrust of bunched racing, for elite riders to get a good mid-week workout and youth riders to experience the excitement of competitive cycling.
